Hermann is the Chief Inspector of Mines for Mineral Mines and Quarries with Resources Safety & Health Queensland. In this role, he provides strategic leadership and direction to the staff of the Mineral Mines and Quarries Inspectorate.

Hermann believes risk-based regulation has been a game changer in the resources sector; but that the risk-based approach is only one step in a journey towards zero serious harm in the industry.

Hermann has over 35 years of experience in the mining industry. Prior to joining the Mines Inspectorate in 1998 he held a number of operational, technical and management roles in both surface and underground mines.

Hermann is a Fellow of the Institute of Quarrying Australia and a Certified Practicing Quarry Manager.
